HOOVER, Ala. – Coach Tim Corbin and the Vanderbilt baseball team are making a splash in the Southeastern Conference Tournament this week. The fourth-seeded Commodores picked up their second win last night as they defeated No. 2-seed South Carolina 3-2 in a game that came down to the wire.
Solid pitching throughout the first five innings by sophomore Kevin Ziomek and impressive defense from left fielder Jack Lupo helped secure the win.
The victory marks the second straight year Vanderbilt has topped South Carolina in the second round of the SEC Tournament, including last season’s 7-2 Vanderbilt win.
The Dores had their first win Tuesday night when they beat the Georgia Bulldogs 4-1.
Vanderbilt will play the top-seeded Florida Gators tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the final game of the evening.
