Shade Grown will celebrate the environment through poetry, song and performance

To celebrate Earth Day, the Sustainability and Environmental Management Office (SEMO) in partnership with Vanderbilt Dining Services and the Vanderbilt Institute for Coffee Studies, will host Shade Grown, a coffee house and open mic night at The Commons Center dining hall from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.

Shade Grown will be an evening of creative performance on the theme of sustainability and the environment. The Vanderbilt community is encouraged to share poetry, spoken word, songs, comedy and short performances related to sustainability and the environment, or simply attend to listen and enjoy. Free coffee and cake will be provided.

While advanced notice of your intent to perform is not required, participants giving advanced notice will be given priority. Participants are encouraged to limit performances to 10 minutes or less. Consideration will be given to longer works; however, advanced notification is required.

For more information about Shade Grown or to sign up to share your creative work, contact recycle@vanderbilt.edu or call E-ARTH (343-2784).
