Led by drummer Sunny Jain, Red Baraat will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, at
 Vanderbilt’s Student Life Center Ballroom.

Red Baraat delivers a riveting sound coupled with an explosive stage performance and presence. The ensemble — comprised of dhol (a double-sided, barrel-shaped North Indian drum slung over one shoulder), drum set, percussion, sousaphone and five horns — melds the infectious North Indian rhythm Bhangra with a host of sounds, including funk, go-go, Latin and jazz.

Following the New York City-based band’s performance in 2011 globalFEST, they were featured on Public Radio International’s The World, National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered, and on the pages of The New York Times, The Village Voice and Mother Jones magazine.

Tickets for the performance are on sale now at the Sarratt Student Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster locations and online or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Single ticket prices are $40, $35 or $30 for individuals, $18 for Vanderbilt faculty and staff, $10 for all area students or children with a valid ID and $5 for Vanderbilt students.

If available, tickets will be sold the night of the performance at the box office. For more information, visit the Great Performances website.
