The author of an acclaimed new biography of music legend James Brown will speak April 6 at Vanderbilt University.
RJ Smith, author of The One: The Life and Music of James Brown, will talk about the book 9 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Vanderbilt’s First Amendment Center, at the corner of 18th Avenue South and Edgehill Avenue.

Rolling Stone magazine gave The One: The Life and Music of James Brown 4.5 stars and said, “The rhythm revolutionary who changed pop music forever finally gets the bio he deserves.”
The event with RJ Smith is hosted by the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy, the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt and BMI.
