On Thursday, Jan. 19, at approximately 2:27 p.m., a female Vanderbilt student reported that a man exposed himself to her. The incident took place on the sidewalk at the intersection of 21st Avenue South and West End Avenue. The student fled the area and called police. Officers searched the area but could not find the individual.
Description: The suspect was described as a white male with fair skin, bald, light-colored eyes, between 40 and 45 years of age, 5’9” and 170 pounds. He was described as “unclean” and wearing blue jeans and a green jacket.

- Scan the area before you exit or approach your vehicle/building and while you proceed between sites.
- Have your key ready in hand to quickly access the door of your vehicle/building.
- Avoid Isolated or dark areas.
- Travel with confidence and purpose.
- If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
- Stay alert and trust your instincts. If you feel uneasy, leave. Go to a safe location and notify VUPD.
- Know the location of emergency phones.
- Stay alert and plan ahead for “What if?” situations.
