Get free admission to the Frist with a nonperishable food item

Visitors may bring a nonperishable food item to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts on Mondays in November and December and receive free admission to the Frist Center’s galleries. The food items will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. The items most needed are peanut butter, canned meat, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta and cereal.

Second Harvest was founded in 1978 to provide a central distribution center for companies, groups and individuals who wished to donate food for hungry people in Middle Tennessee. Second Harvest’s mission is to feed hungry people and to work to solve hunger issues in our community.

Today, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive food distribution centers nationwide. During the 2009-10 fiscal year, Second Harvest distributed more than 53.3 million pounds of food to hungry men, women and children.

The Frist Center is located at 919 Broadway. Hours are Monday-Wednesday and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Thursday-Friday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; and Sunday, 1–5:30 p.m. For more information, call (615) 244-3340 or visit the Frist website.
