The Vanderbilt Alumni Association Board of Directors announces nine new members, from a wide range of class years and professions. All are serving three-year terms, except where noted.
Mark D. Arons, BA’80, of Fairfield, Conn., is a partner in the law firm of Millman Arons & Millman in Westport, where he concentrates in the areas of personal injury, product liability and medical malpractice litigation. Active in his community and at Vanderbilt, he interviews prospective Vanderbilt students, represents the university at local college fairs, has hosted summer send-off events for admitted students at his home, and has served on the Parents Leadership Committee.
Shirley M. Collado, BS’94, of Middlebury, Vt., is dean and chief diversity officer for Middlebury College, where she is an associate professor of psychology. She previously was executive vice president for The Posse Foundation, a nonprofit organization that identifies and recruits outstanding youth leaders from urban public schools and sends them in diverse teams, called “posses,” to top universities nationwide. Collado was a Posse Scholar herself as a student at Vanderbilt.
Thomas B. Conner, BA’88, of Nashville is president and CEO of Sitemason Inc., a Web technology and mobile app development company he started with friends in 1999. Formerly, he was a principal and chief financial officer for Telelink Corp., one of the first Internet service providers in Tennessee. President of the Nashville Chapter of the Vanderbilt Alumni Association from 2008 to 2010, Conner was an inaugural member of the advisory committee of the National Commodore Club’s 2020 Society. He is serving a one-year term on the board.
Rich M. Hull, BA’92, of Burbank, Calif., is a film and television producer and president of Avalanche Entertainment. He has more than 20 high-profile movie, documentary and TV projects to his credit. With Chad Gervich, BA’96, Hull co-founded and co-runs Vandy-in-Hollywood (ViH), which arranges summer entertainment internships in Los Angeles and New York for current Vanderbilt students. Now in its fifth year, ViH placed nearly 30 students in internships in 2010.
Alice Ji, BS’06, of Chicago is a human capital consultant at Deloitte, Chicago, a firm that provides audit, consulting, financial advice, risk management and tax services to select clients. She is also the Deloitte liaison to The Posse Foundation, which identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college-selection processes. Ji is a former Vanderbilt young alumni trustee and has served as president of the Washington, D.C., Vanderbilt Chapter. She is serving a one-year term on the board.
Donna Townsend Maddox, BSN’61, of Nashville has served as an adjunct professor of the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and for eight years served on the Nursing Alumni Association Board. She is former president and owner of Marketing & Business Consultants Inc., which offered expertise in nursing, education and health-care marketing.
Karen Jefferson Morrison, BS’82, of Columbus, Ohio, is president of OhioHealth Foundation and senior vice president for OhioHealth Corp. She is a health-care executive, attorney and lobbyist, leading corporate strategy for external relations including community relations, corporate reinvestment, government and regulatory affairs. She also manages state and federal advocacy strategy for the corporation. She serves on numerous corporate and association boards.
Sharran Srivatsaa, MBA’08, is a banker with Credit Suisse Private Banking in Atlanta. At Owen he served as student body president and corporate ambassador, and founded OwenBloggers. An NCAA Academic All-American, he competed on the professional tennis tour and spent many years building tennis and golf programs at five-star resorts in the Caribbean, Middle East and Hawaii. He champions recruiting for Credit Suisse at Vanderbilt.
Wes Powell, BA’91, of New York City is a partner in the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, where he specializes in complex business litigation with a particular focus on antitrust litigation, mergers, investigations and client counseling. He recently represented Guantanamo Bay detainees in their habeas corpus actions in federal court in Washington. Active in community service and politics, Powell has endowed a scholarship at Vanderbilt in memory of his friend and classmate Chad Presswood, BA’91.
Another new member joined the board less than a year ago. Willie Maul, BE’97, of Nashville is global convergence solutions manager for Sprint. He supports business development and presales activities for the company’s Converged Business and International Product portfolios, covering the three-state region of Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. He has just been elected president of the Association of Vanderbilt Black Alumni.
