Anyone used to walking around Kirkland Hall on campus will need to be aware of detours due to construction that begins this week.
The construction is routing power lines directly to Wilson Hall. Currently, Wilson is linked to the Kissam Residence Halls. Before work can begin on the new college halls, Wilson needs its own power.
Half of the Kirkland Esplanade (the paved vehicular access loop to and from West End in front of Kirkland Hall) will be closed along with several sidewalks in the area.
Pedestrians will be directed to other routes (see map) and the closed sidewalks will also have walls installed around them.
Construction should be concluded before students return to campus in August. Power to Kirkland, Wilson and other buildings should not be affected during construction.
