Cupcake-palooza to raise funds for Books from Birth

Building on last fall’s wildly successful Cupcake-palooza fundraiser, Aaron Rents presents Cupcake-palooza: The Sequel, will feature a larger venue and more cupcakes. All proceed will go to child literacy nonprofit organization Books from Birth of Middle Tennessee, which provides books to local pre-school children at no cost to their families. BFBMT is a function of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Last fall’s fundraiser, which featured more than 1,000 mini-cupcakes from Nashville’s top cupcakeries, sold out in just 25 minutes. Cupcake-palooza: The Sequel will be held Friday, May 20, at the Community Center at Belmont United Methodist Church in Hillsboro Village. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The event ends when the cupcakes are gone.

Details on pre-registration, which will award priority placement in line, are detailed at www.facebook.com/cupcakepalooza.

Vendors will include cupcakes from Gigi’s Cupcakes, Aunt April’s Bakery, Cupcake Collection, Sparkle Cupcakes, The Painted Cupcake, Royal Icing Custom Cakes, Costco, Publix and more. Vegan and gluten-free cupcakes also will be available.

Select home bakers will also participate. Local food critics, including the Nashville Scene’s Carrington Fox, will award the top home bakers with prizes from Sweet Wise Baking Supplies, the Picnic Café and Books from Birth.

A children’s area will feature activities for kids, as well as Blue Bell ice cream treats. Sponsor Smart Sprouts will be on hand to share information about their new drop-in playcare center in Green Hills.

The event is priced at $15 for ages five to adult, and $5 for children under five.  While the event is not “all you can eat,” admission includes a generous amount of tickets that can be exchanged for mini-sized cupcakes, drinks and other treats. Additional tickets can be purchased during the event.

All inquiries, visit www.facebook.com/cupcakepalooza.

You can pre-register to ensure that you are among the first into the event: please send a check for $15/adult and $5/child (5 and under) made out to BFBMT, 3401 West End Ave, Suite 460W, Nashville, TN 37212 BEFORE MAY 18 and you’ll be on the VIP list. Put “CUPCAKES” on the memo line.
