MEDIA ADVISORY: Commencement set for May 13 at Vanderbilt University

(Editor’s Note: During morning drive time, traffic will be heavier than usual on West End Avenue near Vanderbilt from about 7:30 to 9 a.m. because of Commencement.)

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos will deliver the traditional Commencement address at Vanderbilt University in a ceremony beginning 9 a.m. on Alumni Lawn. Undergraduates will receive their degrees after the chancellor’s address, while graduate and professional students will adjourn for their own degree ceremonies at about 10:15 a.m. About 2,843 graduates are expected to attend Commencement. Degrees are scheduled to be awarded to 1,734 undergraduate and 1,904 graduate students. Undergraduates will stay on Alumni Lawn to receive their degrees.

The ceremony on Alumni Lawn will be webcast live starting at 9 a.m. at http://www.vanderbilt.edu. A mult box will be available stage right.

MEDIA PARKING: A limited number of parking spaces for print and television photographers will be available in Lot 15 (Directions – At 24th Avenue South, turn left onto Vanderbilt Place and it will dead end into the Sarratt Student Center. Lot 15 is a line of metered parking on the right side of the street just before Sarratt.) Reporters may park in Kensington or 25th Avenue garages. Enter the 25th Avenue garage from the Highland Avenue entrance. Media attending should be prepared to show valid media identification/press passes to access parking.
