Google Books lecture April 8

Author Siva Vaidhaynathan will discuss his book about Google at 1 p.m. Friday, April 8.

Vaidhaynathan is author of The Googlization of Everything (And Why We Should Worry), which challenges the legality of the Google Books scanning project.

The Spring 2011 Curb Creative Leadership Lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Vanderbilt’s First Amendment Center, 1207 18th Ave. S.

Vaidhaynathan is a cultural historian, media scholar, and professor of media studies at the University of Virginia. He has frequently contributed to The Chronicle of Higher Education, New York Times Magazine, The Nation, Salon.com, National Public Radio, and MSNBC.COM. He has also appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Vaidhyanathan holds fellowships at the Institute for the Future of the Book and the New York Institute for the Humanities.

A reception and book signing will follow the lecture in the Curb Center atrium.
