Willy Stern

Veteran journalist and adjunct law professor Willy Stern will speak at Vanderbilt Law School about Afghanistan’s secret prisons and the country’s “rule of law” on Oct. 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in Flynn Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Stern was embedded with U.S. troops in Afghanistan. During that time, he toured multiple American and Afghan-run detention facilities and wrote an article for The Weekly Standard on his experiences.

A former staff writer at Forbes and Business Week, Stern is the recipient of many national journalism awards and honors. His plain-spoken style has engaged audiences around the world. Stern’s writing has appeared in publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Tribune, The Chicago Tribune and The New Republic. In addition to serving on Vanderbilt Law School’s adjunct faculty, he has taught at many schools around the country.
