Poet Ciaran Carson to read from work at Vanderbilt

Poet Ciaran Carson will read from his work at Vanderbilt University.

The author of nine poetry collections is the director of The Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen’s University, Belfast.

Carson will read from his work at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Room 126 of Wilson Hall, 111 21st Ave. S. He will also be interviewed by Alice Quinn, executive director of the Poetry Society of America.

The event is free and the public is invited. It will be videotaped and later posted as a podcast at www.vanderbilt.edu/news/ .

Carson, a native of Belfast, has published books including The Pen Friend, On the Night Watch, For All We Know, the novel Shamrock Tea and Last Night’s Fun, about traditional Irish music.
