The global financial system and the world economy are now recovering from a credit crisis which began in the spring of 2007 and continues to this day. The sources of the crisis are many. Now governments are debating how to change the financial system to prevent this from happening again.
The Financial Markets Research Center at the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management will host a conference on regulatory change on April 22-23 in Owen’s Averbuch Auditorium.
Researchers and members of the banking industry will present proposals for regulatory change for the banking system, derivatives, credit rating agencies, and for corporate governance and compensation. They’ll also discuss issues such as, what are the costs and benefits of regulatory change? To what extent must regulatory change be coordinated across nations given the global links in the financial system?
