Welcome to “The President’s Corner,” a new column that will appear in each issue of Vanderbilt Magazine, along with the latest news from the Vanderbilt Alumni Association.
As your association president I am committed to strengthening the university’s outreach to the global community of 120,000 Vanderbilt alumni. With the energetic support of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and under the coordination of new Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations James Stofan, we are ready to lead the association into a new era of strategic alumni engagement and expanded alumni services.
As a critical first step, the board will appoint task forces to examine three priority areas for the future of the association:
» A Strategic Planning Task Force will set the stage for development of a first-ever five-year strategic plan for Vanderbilt alumni relations.
» A Student Engagement Task Force will look at ways to build loyalty among current students using technology and the efforts of our student alumni organizations.
» A Faculty Engagement Task Force will seek new mechanisms for involving faculty members in Vanderbilt chapters and programs, and in board activities.
As Vanderbilt alumni you are among the most important constituents and our most influential stakeholders. I thank you for your continued support of the university, and I encourage you to tell us how we might better serve you and advance the university’s mission more effectively.
