On a break from her “Listening Tour through the Axis of Evil,” Kelly Hayes-Raitt will speak Jan. 29 at Vanderbilt’s Leadership Breakfast about her experiences as an activist, political consultant and writer.
The address, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the University Club at Vanderbilt, is sponsored by the Cal Turner Program for Moral Leadership in the Professions.
Since losing a bid for the California State Assembly in 2006, Hayes-Raitt has been touring countries threatened by American foreign policy in an attempt to bring Americans “a global view of the individual people whose daily lives hinge on Americans’ oil consumption and foreign meddling.” She blogs about her experiences at http://www.peacepathfoundation.org/.
Hayes-Raitt is an activist and author who has worked tirelessly for the past three decades on issues of civil and human rights, as well as for the protection of the environment. As a passionate and effective advocate, she has appeared on more than 500 radio and television public affairs shows including PBS’s “News Hour with Jim Lehrer,” CBS’s “This Morning,” CNN’s “Financial News,” and CNN’s “Moneyline.”
