Space 204, the gallery of the Department of Art at E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center at Vanderbilt University, will debut two new exhibitions with a reception on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Students from Watkins College of Art and Design will be on hand, along with Birmingham, Ala.-based artist Gary Chapman, for the 4 to 6 p.m. reception at the gallery at 1204 25th Ave. S.
The event is free and the public is invited.
Chapman’s exhibition, "Oil Paintings," will run from Jan. 7 to Feb. 6.
"I see my work as a natural blend of the macabre and the beautiful," Chapman said. "My paintings contain a balance of euphoria and horror, and often center on the relationship and the fusion of such opposites."
The exhibition of the work of Watkins students, "Window or Aisle," is curated by the faculty of Watkins. Artists represented include Kelly Bonadies, Adolfo Davila, Lisa Deal, Cayless Griffis, Erin Plew, Nick Stolle, Mandy Stoller and Stephanie West.
"Window or Aisle" will run from Jan. 7 to 14.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
