Vanderbilt University student groups register more than 1,300 voters

More than 1,300 newly registered voters can make their voices heard during this year’s hotly contested presidential race thanks to the efforts of Vanderbilt University student organizations.

Students representing organizations Election Alliance, Student Association for Voter Empowerment (SAVE) and College Democrats worked with student leaders from the Office of Housing and Residential Education and the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center to register 1,360 Vanderbilt community members this fall.

The groups worked in partnership with the university’s Office of Active Citizenship and Service (OACS).

Student groups have sponsored several election activities, including debate viewing events, panel discussions and voter registration drives. Students are also helping to provide shuttle transportation to the polls during early voting and on Election Day.
