Current and future health care leaders tackle biggest health care issues

How much is government responsible for controlling health care costs? Is consumer-driven health care a viable option? Is pay-for-performance a potential solution to skyrocketing medical bills? These are just some of the hot-button issues that will be debated and discussed at the inaugural Health Care Business Alliance hosted by the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. The Health Care Business Alliance will be held at the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

The Health Care Business Alliance will bring together leaders from a diverse group of local and national health care companies with health care MBA and MHA students to discuss the latest challenges and future innovations of this vital industry. Friday’s keynote speaker is former Senate majority leader and transplant surgeon Bill Frist and Saturday’s keynote will be Jim Lackey, CEO of Passport Health Communications. Some of the panel discussions include:

• Business & government responses to rising health care costs
• The role of business in health care quality
• Health care technology: pharmaceuticals, biotech and the FDA
• Consumer-driven health care
• Pay-for-performance
• Social responsibility in health care

The HCBA will also include a health care company fair with on-site interviews.
