Frank Warren, founder and curator of worldwide postcard phenomenon PostSecret Project, speaks at Vanderbilt University Oct. 10

Frank Warren, founder and curator of the PostSecret Project, brings his story to Vanderbilt University Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at Langford Auditorium.

The PostSecret Project is a collection of more than 200,000 highly personal and artfully decorated postcards displaying the innermost thoughts and secrets people typically never voice. The postcards were mailed anonymously from around the world.

Tickets for the event are available through www.ticketmaster.com or at all Ticketmaster outlets. A limited quantity of general admission tickets for the public is on sale for $15. Tickets are free to Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff and must be picked up in advance at the Sarratt Student Center box office. Only one free ticket may be picked up per person with Vanderbilt identification card.

Warren’s first book, PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives, is a New York Times best-seller. He followed up with books My Secret: A PostSecret Book and The Secret Lives of Men and Women: A PostSecret Book.

In 2006, his PostSecret website – which receives more than 3 million visitors every month – was awarded six weblog awards including "Best American Blog" and "Blog of the Year." His traveling exhibition of PostSecret cards was called "one of five best art shows in 2005" by the Washington Post.

In 2005, music group The All American Rejects approached Warren about using images of actual PostSecret cards in their music video for their song "Dirty Little Secret." They offered Warren $1,000 but instead he asked them to donate $2,000 to 1(800) SUICIDE, where Warren is a volunteer. The donation was made and the music video became one of the most requested on MTV.

Warren has appeared on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, CBC, NPR and Fox News.

He is a graduate of University of California-Berkeley and founder of a document delivery firm, Instant Information Systems, in Washington, D.C.

Warren continues to receive between 100 and 200 postcards every day. He updates his website on Sundays and is working to produce four more PostSecret books.
