Team from Vanderbilt’s Owen School takes first place win in case competition at Tulane

A team representing Vanderbilt University took the top prize of $5,000 at this year’s Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence Finance Case Competition at Tulane University’s Freeman School earlier this month.

Bill Lambert, Justin Stark, Carl Hinrichs and Travis Messina were members of the winning team. All four are MBA students at Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Emory University took second place and a prize of $3,000, and a team from Rice University won third place and a prize of $2,000.

The Tulane Finance Case Competition began in 1997 and has been sponsored since 1998 by Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence. He is chairman of Kirby Corp., a Houston-based operator of inland tank barges.
