Feminist activist Srilatha Batliwala to speak at Vanderbilt, Lecture on environmental and gender justice is part of two-day workshop

Feminist activist and researcher Srilatha Batliwala will speak at Vanderbilt University as part of a workshop on social, environmental and gender justice.

Batliwala, a Civil Society Research Fellow at the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, will speak at 4 pm. Wednesday, April 23, in Room 101 of Buttrick Hall on the Vanderbilt campus.

The lecture, “Environmental and Gender Justice – Linked Paths to Social Justice,” is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the talk.

The lecture is part of an April 24-25 workshop hosted by the Global Feminisms Collaborative on “Social and Environmental Justice: Perspectives from and for Global Feminisms.” The workshop will allow local and global feminist activists to have a sustained conversation on issues such as how to bring feminist knowledge into contemporary environmental activism.

Registration is required to attend the workshop, which will feature representatives from the World Conservation Union, the eco-feminist organization Conspirando, and SisterSong, a network of women of color health initiatives launching this summer.
