Vanderbilt professor to appear at U.S. Civil Rights Commission briefing April 4

Vanderbilt Law Professor Carol Swain has been invited to a U.S. Commission on Civil Rights briefing Friday, April 4, to discuss the impact of illegal immigration on wages of low-income black workers.

The briefing is set for 9:30 a.m. in Room 540 of the Commission headquarters in Washington D.C.

Swain, who holds a political science faculty appointment at Vanderbilt and is the editor of Debating Immigration (Cambridge University Press), hosted a conference at Vanderbilt recently around the book’s themes.

United States immigration policy, particularly as it relates to illegal immigration, has been the subject of high profile debate in recent months. The commission plans to use the hearings to assess the impact of illegal immigration on the earnings of low-income black workers.
