MEDIA ADVISORY: Vanderbilt business students put ‘sweat equity’ into helping others

Incoming students from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management are starting the year off by giving back to the Nashville community. The entire incoming class, along with a group of second year students, faculty, staff, Owen dean Jim Bradford and Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity CEO Chris McCarthy will be a part of a special building project.

Instead of building a Habitat home in the traditional way, a group of more than 300 Owen volunteers will meet at LP Field to construct walls for seven local Habitat homes in Providence Park.

This service project is one of the unique, hands-on ways Owen teaches its students the value of corporate and social responsibility. The student group 100% Owen is following that positive theme by pledging a minimum of $2,500 to Habitat.

Who: Incoming Vanderbilt students for the MBA, MS Finance
and Master of Accountancy programs
When: Saturday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m-12:30 p.m.
Where: LP Field, parking lots G and M

The Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University is ranked as a top institution by BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, Financial Times and Forbes. For more news about Owen, visit www.owen.vanderbilt.edu.
