NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Actor Jamie-Lynn Sigler, best known for playing Meadow Soprano on HBO‘s Emmy-award winning drama The Sopranos will talk about her battle with anorexia Thursday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Vanderbilt University‘s Student Life Center.
Sigler‘s talk was originally scheduled at Vanderbilt in November; however, an unforeseen change in her shooting schedule for The Sopranos forced her to reschedule.
She first documented her eating disorder in her 2002 book Wise Girl: What I‘ve Learned About Life, Love and Loss. She has become a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association and has said that she exercised excessively in order to lose an extreme amount of weight.
The university‘s Speakers Committee, a student-run organization, is sponsoring Sigler‘s talk. Signed copies of Sigler‘s book will be available for purchase at the event.

Sigler‘s performance on The Sopranos has earned her the 1999 and 2000 Hollywood Reporter Young Star Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series, as well as two ALMA Award nominations for Best Actress in a Drama Series. She made her Broadway debut as Belle in Disney‘s Beauty and the Beast in 2002 and starred in the national tour of Rodger‘s and Hammerstein‘s Cinderella in 2001.
