The Vanderbilt Commodore Steel Band program started at the Blair School of Music in 2004 with a handful of students. This 2006 fall semester there were enough students to form three bands: one group of advanced members and two first-year groups, including the First and Ten Steel Band.

Midsouth Regional Emmy Nomination
Vanderbilt’s video production unit won five Regional Emmy awards in 2007 in advanced media for videos produced for VUCast, Vanderbilt’s news network. This was the first time the university received television’s highest honor.
