MEDIA ADVISORY: Tennessee State and Vanderbilt universities’ bands rehearse together Saturday for joint performances at historic football game

Tennessee State and Vanderbilt universities’ bands will join forces for three performances at the historic football match-up between the two schools on Saturday, Sept. 23. The game will be the first time Vanderbilt has played TSU in football. The bands will jointly perform the TSU and Vanderbilt fight songs as well as the R&B classic “Love Train” by the O’Jays during halftime. The bands will rehearse their joint performances on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Vanderbilt’s Dudley Field. Following the rehearsal, the TSU band will join Vanderbilt’s band for an outdoor tailgate party from 3 to 4 p.m. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

WHAT: Tennessee State and Vanderbilt universities’ bands will join forces for three performances at the historic football match-up between the two schools. The bands will rehearse the three performances – the TSU fight song, the Vanderbilt fight song and R&B classic “Love Train” by the O’Jays – Saturday afternoon before the game. Following the rehearsal the bands will team up for a tailgate party.

WHERE: The rehearsal is at Vanderbilt University’s Dudley Field. The tailgate party will be held near the Vanderbilt band’s rehearsal hall, which is located on 28th Avenue South across from Vanderbilt Police headquarters.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 23. The rehearsal is from 2 to 3 p.m. and the tailgate party is from 3 to 4 p.m. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
