Video: Roads Scholars Tour takes Vanderbilt to East Tennessee

The fifth annual Vanderbilt Roads Scholars Tour took Chancellor Gordon Gee and about 45 faculty, senior administrators, staff and student leaders to Middle and East Tennessee August 16 and 17.

Initiated in 2002, also with a trip to East Tennessee, the annual tour is designed to welcome new faculty and to familiarize them and others in Vanderbilt community with the university’s ties and partnerships in the region. The tour has since traveled to West Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky.

Traveling on a bus – emblazoned with “Vanderbilt Roads Scholars Tour” – the entourage made the two-day trip with visits to Lightning Source, a division of Ingram Industries Incorporated in La Vergne, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Knoxville Museum of Art, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Scripps Networks, Maryville High School, Tennessee Technological University’s Appalachian Center for Craft and Vanderbilt’s Squirrel Camp, an outdoor freshman orientation program on Percy Priest Lake.
