For many Vanderbilt students and faculty, learning, teaching and service don’t end when classes conclude in May, but continue throughout the summer, often in far-flung locations. Two Vanderbilt groups are blogging about their adventures and work this summer in China and in Uganda.
The Principals’ Leadership Academy of Nashville, or PLAN, housed at Vanderbilt Peabody College’s Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations, is in the midst of its summer Education Leadership Learning Exchange with South China Normal University. The project is a collaboration of Peabody College, South China Normal University and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. Trip participants are blogging about their travels as well as posting video of their experiences exchanging knowledge and camaraderie with Chinese professors, students, teachers and principals.

In Uganda, about 20 Vanderbilt students are working with health organizations this summer as part of that country’s response to HIV/AIDS. The Kampala Project is a partnership of the Office of Active Citizenship and Service, the School of Medicine’s Institute for Global Health, and the Center for Medicine, Health and Society.
