MEDIA ADVISORY – FTC chairman to speak at Owen School commencement

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras will deliver the keynote address to the graduating class of the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management at commencement exercises on May 13. The separate Owen ceremony immediately follows the university‘s commencement program.

Majoras, who was sworn in as chairman of the FTC in 2004, previously served as principal deputy assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice‘s Antitrust Division and as a partner in the antitrust section of the international law firm of Jones Day in Washington, D.C. She is a frequent speaker on competition policy to national and international audiences. Her topic at commencement will be “Your Imprint on the Global Marketplace.”

WHEN: Friday, May 13, 10:45 a.m.

WHERE: Magnolia Circle Lawn on the Peabody campus, across from the University School on Edgehill Avenue between 19th Avenue South and 21st Avenue South. Please note that parking will be limited that day. It is recommended that you first try the Wesley Place Garage (turn off 21st Avenue South onto Scarritt Place; garage entrance is on right behind Bruegger‘s Bagels).
