Journalists are encouraged to apply to attend a media fellowship, “Autism: Rates, Causes and Treatment,” hosted by Vanderbilt University in conjunction with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education April 10-13 in Nashville, Tenn. At this fellowship, journalists will have an opportunity to meet with leading autism researchers and affected families to learn about the latest advances in understanding this complex disorder.
Autism has been a top media story across the nation this month, with stories by The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Newsweek and “The Today Show” featuring the work of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development to understand and treat this disorder. New guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control
Feb. 21 to help parents identify the potential early warning signs of autism are sure to keep this story in the forefront of public attention.
