Vanderbilt Kennedy Center offers free Sibshops for siblings of children with special needs

NASHVILLE, Tenn.óChildren between the ages of 7 and 12 who have a
sibling with special needs are invited to attend Vanderbilt Kennedy
Center Sibshops on Oct. 9, Dec. 4, Feb. 5 and April 16 from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m.

Sibshops are fun opportunities for brothers and sisters of children
with special health and developmental needs to obtain peer support and
education within a recreational context. They include discussions
interspersed with games designed to be offbeat and appeal to a wide
ability range, cooking activities and special guests.

In addition to the Sibshops for younger children, a college-age Sibshop
for young adults is now available and one for adolescents is being
planned.

Sibshops are free and open to the public; advance registration is
required. For more information or to register, contact Teresa Turnbo at
(615) 936-5118 or teresa.turnbo@vanderbilt.edu.
