MEDIA ADVISORY: Metro-Vanderbilt partnership to cut ribbon on new playground at the historic Preston Taylor Homes

Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell and Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor for Student
Life and University Affairs David Williams will join other state and
local officials in cutting the ribbon on a new playground at the
historic Preston Taylor Homes on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m.

The new playground was built as the result of a partnership between the
Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, including
Metro Parks and Recreation and the Metropolitan Development and Housing
Agency, and the Vanderbilt University / North Nashville Community
Outreach Partnership Center.

WHAT: Ribbon cutting on new playground at the Preston Taylor Homes’ Boyd Park

WHO: Mayor Bill Purcell, Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor
David Williams and additional local and state elected and appointed officials.

Local resident
Eldridge Ronnie Simmons, who played on the playground as a child in the
early 1960s and whose children now play
there, will also be available for interviews.

WHERE: Boyd Park at Preston Taylor Homes. The
park is located at the corner of Clifton Avenue and 39th Avenue North
in Nashville.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be
held in the Dr. Atchison Community Building immediately adjacent to the park.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m.
