MEDIA ADVISORY–SEC Commissioner Atkins to speak at Vanderbilt University

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — SEC Commissioner Paul S. Atkins will speak at
the Securities Law Update 2004 conference at Vanderbilt University Law
School on Thursday, May 20. Appointed to the SEC two years ago, Atkins
is a 20-year veteran of the financial services and securities
regulation industries and a 1983 graduate of Vanderbilt Law School. He
is expected to provide his views on the current state of securities law
in the United States and offer insight into recent developments at the
SEC. Pending are decisions by the SEC on the power of shareholders in
the selection of directors and the regulation of hedge funds.

This two-day conference is co-sponsored by Vanderbilt’s Corporate
and Securities Law Institute and the Practising Law Institute in New
York and is not open to the public.
