NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gov. Phil Bredesen has appointed Pat Levitt,
director of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human
Development and professor of pharmacology, to the Tennessee Council on
Developmental Disabilities.
The 16-member council represents each region of the state and a
variety of disabilities and cultures. It works with individuals with
developmental disabilities and their families to shape and promote
programs and policies that best serve their needs in areas such as
public education, employment, housing, health care and community life.
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and the council together manage the
Disability Pathfinder program, which is a statewide clearinghouse of
information about services for those with disabilities.
Levitt is currently a member of the MacArthur Foundation Network on
Brain Development and Development of Behavior and the National Council
on the Developing Child. He serves as chair of the Board of Scientific
Counselors for the National Institutes of Mental Health and as chair of
the scientific advisory board for Cure Autism Now.
