MEDIA ADVISORY–Vanderbilt University senior part of year-round student aid discussion at U.S. Senate Committee hearing

Vanderbilt University senior India McKinney will offer testimony on year-round student aid at a full committee hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, a member of the committee, invited McKinney to participate in the hearing "A Year-Round College Calendar: Advantages and Impediments." The Tennessee senator will chair the hearing, during which members will examine ways, either through regulatory changes or the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, to make student financial aid more amenable to a year-round system. McKinney, a financial aid recipient from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., will graduate in May with a major in political science and communication studies.
