A U.S. government class from Nashville’s Stratford High School will join Vanderbilt students in watching returns for the Tennessee primary on Tuesday evening, Feb. 10. The viewing party, sponsored by the Vanderbilt student group VanderVotes, will also seek to register new voters for Tennessee from both the high school class and the University.
The event begins at 7 p.m. in McTyeire Hall on the Vanderbilt campus. VanderVotes is teaming with the Stratford students as part of a mentoring program seeking to increase voter registration and political awareness among Nashville youth. During a three-day registration drive in December, VanderVotes registered 60 new Tennessee voters at the University.
VanderVotes is conducting University-wide viewing parties for the primaries each Tuesday evening through March 2.
