Vanderbilt names Mona Hicks assistant vice chancellor for student activities

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ñ Mona Hicks has been named assistant vice chancellor for student activities at Vanderbilt University.

Hicks has served as the University’s senior director for student
activities since August 2002. As assistant vice chancellor, she will be
responsible for supervising the Office of Student Activities, which
includes the Vanderbilt Programming Board, as well as supervising
operations, activities and arts events at the Sarratt Student Center.
Hicks will oversee Vanderbilt’s Office of Greek Life and Office of
Student Organizations and Governance, and chair both the Special Events
Registration and Division of Student Life Calendar committees. Hicks
will serve as the Division of Student Life’s liaison to the Office of
the Chancellor.

"Mona has done an outstanding job since joining us in August of 2002,"
said David Williams II, vice chancellor for student life and university
affairs. "Because of her hard work and strong leadership, [Associate
Vice Chancellor for Student Life] Steve Caldwell and I feel this
promotion is more than well deserved. We are confident that Mona
will continue to provide the vision and guidance that will lead the
student activities cluster solidly into the future."
Before coming to Vanderbilt, Hicks was director of student activities and the Women’s Resource Center at Rice University.

Hicks holds a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western
Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree from Saint Edwards
University in Austin, Texas.
