MEDIA ADVISORY: World-renowned advocate for people with disabilities to speak at Vanderbilt Kennedy Center

Margaret Giannini, M.D., F.A.A.P., a world-renowned advocate for people with disabilities, will speak at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at 4 p.m. She is currently the Director of Health and Human Services Office on Disability and has over fifty years of service toward disability advocacy.

Giannini was the founder and director of the University Center of Excellence on Developmental Disabilities of New York Medical College, the first and largest facility for persons with developmental disabilities in the U.S. and world.

Her lecture at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center is entitled "Disability Health Policy and Research." A reception will follow the event. Giannini’s lecture is free and open to the public.
