Vanderbilt’s Williams appointed to American Bar Association leadership position

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–David Williams II, vice chancellor for student life and university affairs at Vanderbilt University, has been appointed chair of the Legal Education Committee of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section of the American Bar Association.

As a fast growing part of the ABA, the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section represents more than 22,000 members throughout the United States, most of whom are in the private practice of law. The section’s 62 committees serve the section and its members by providing information and networking opportunities, while ensuring that the section carries out its mission.

Williams, who is also general counsel and secretary of the University and professor of law at the Law School, was appointed in at the ABA’s recent annual meeting in San Francisco. His term will end in August 2004 at the conclusion of the ABA’s annual meeting in Atlanta.

In announcing this appointment, Section Chair William T. Hogan said, "Our section’s committee leaders and members provide the backbone of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section as reflected in our many programs, publications and periodicals. As chair of the Legal Education Committee, David Williams will serve an important role in the section."
