Brain Blast Media Advisory

Have you ever wondered what a human brain really looks and feels like? Find out at "Brain Blast!" hosted by the Vanderbilt Brain Institute and the Adventure Science Center (formerly Cumberland Science Museum) to teach the public about the brain, how it works, and the progress brain researchers are making toward understanding, treating, and ultimately curing brain-related diseases.

Interactive learning "booths" will feature real human brains, cow eye dissections, sensory and optical illusions, building neurons with styrofoam and pipe cleaners, and more. Informational tables and representatives from local chapters of brain-related organizations?National Multiple Sclerosis Association, Mental Health Association, Nashville Chapter National Alliance for the Mentally Ill?will also be present.

WHAT: "Brain Blast!" brain games, mind games, and hands-on activities led by Vanderbilt neuroscience undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members.

WHERE: Adventure Science Center, 800 Fort Negley Blvd.

WHEN: Saturday, March 1; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHO: General public. Brain Blast is free, but participants must pay the science center entry fee.
