Michael Durant, retired U.S. Army chief warrant officer will take questions from the media

Michael Durant, retired U.S. Army chief warrant officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot whose capture by Somali fighters was depicted in the film “Blackhawk Down,” will take questions from the media 3 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in Room 231 of the Vanderbilt Law School.

Durant will give a talk on aviation simulation technology to an invited group of students, faculty and staff at 5 p.m. in the auditorium at Vanderbilt’s Featheringill Hall. He currently works for Sterling, Va.-based NLX Corporation, one of the largest aerospace simulation companies in the United States that develops flight simulation and training systems for military and commercial aircraft personnel. Durant’s visit marks the kickoff of an effort by Vanderbilt’s Office of Innovation through Technology to provide information to researchers, faculty and staff about the future of Department of Defense technology and how Vanderbilt research could assist in the development of new military strategies.
