Candidates to have a public forum

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metropolitan Nashville candidates for vice mayor, sheriff and school board (Hillsboro Cluster) will take part in a July 22 public forum for residents of the 18th Council District. This free event is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Belcourt Theatre in Hillsboro Village, with the program getting underway at 5:45 p.m. “With the Metro election just a few weeks away, Vanderbilt University is pleased to be a co-sponsor of this important neighborhood forum,” said Betty Nixon, director of Community, Neighborhood and Government Relations. “We want to be sure these important elections don’t get lost in the hubbub of state and federal races. I have been amazed by how many people don’t realize that the Metro election is Aug. 1.”

Councilwoman Ginger Hausser, who is also a co-sponsor, said she welcomed the opportunity for her constituents to meet for themselves those running for local office in August. “Others running for higher offices are invited to attend as well,” Hausser said. “This event is open to all interested persons, not just those living in the 18th District.” Other co-sponsors are Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors Inc., Belmont University, Eakin Elementary School PTO, Harrris-Hillman School PTO, Hillsboro Village Association, and Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association.
