Lasting Impact

Symposium Celebrates 50 Years

[wzslider info=”true”]

In 1964, as Vanderbilt students were thinking and talking about sweeping societal changes, Impact Symposium was born. With the support of Chancellor Alexander Heard, Impact Symposium quickly became one of the most well-known student-run political conferences in the country. Impact Symposium has hosted future and former presidents, foreign heads of state, and the leading thinkers and political writers of their time. The theme for this year’s Impact, set for March 17–19, is “Exploring Our Contemporary Civil Rights and Responsibilities.” Speakers include Gen. Colin Powell, former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), and former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine).
