Vanderbilt announces nine additions to its Athletic Hall of Fame for 2015, representing the best of Vanderbilt’s athletic history:
• Marina Alex, BA’12; Golf (2009–2012) Two-time SEC Golfer of the Year and first-team All-American; now on LPGA Tour
• Cathy Bender, BS’82; Basketball (1978–1982) Vanderbilt’s first African American female scholarship recipient
• Jay Cutler, BS’05; Football (2002–2005) NFL star quarterback who was SEC Offensive Player of the Year and Vanderbilt record holder
• Dr. Jeff Fosnes, BA’76, MD’80; Basketball (1972–1976) Ideal blend of athletics and academics, with All-SEC and Academic All-American honors, graduating as Vanderbilt’s No. 2 career scorer, and entering medical school
• Charley Horton, BA’56; Football (1953–1955) An SEC Player of the Year, All-American, and star of the 1955 Gator Bowl team
• David Price, ’09; Baseball (2005–2007) Star pitcher and consensus National Player of the Year at Vanderbilt who won the American League Cy Young Award
• Larry Schmittou, BS’62; Baseball Coach (1968–1978) Won SEC titles as Vanderbilt’s baseball coach, with overwhelming support from baseball alumni and fans
• Aleke Tsoubanos, BS’04; Tennis (2000–2004) A three-time All-American and key member of the 2002 Vanderbilt team that played for the NCAA championship
• Stella Vaughn, BA 1896; Administrator (turn of the 20th century) One of only 10 women enrolled at Vanderbilt in 1892; organized the university’s first women’s basketball team and served as its coach for 20 years before being named dean of women; the university’s first female instructor
