Vanderbilt receives Pillar Award from United Way

More than 50,000 people will be helped because of the donations from Vanderbilt employees. David and Gail Williams, co-chairs of the 2009 Community Giving Campaign, accepted the award on behalf of Vanderbilt.

YES features new tools for faculty, students

The new system will replace the current registration system – OASIS – for fall 2010 class registration. OASIS will still be used to register for summer classes.

Mathematician Charles K. Megibben dies

Megibben, an internationally acknowledged leader in the theory of abelian groups, a major field of algebra, died March 2 in Nashville while undergoing heart surgery. He was a professor of mathematics, emeritus.

Creation of The Public Archive of Haitian history combats misinformation and prejudice

The Public Archive has been initiated to serve as an accessible clearinghouse of historical essays, archival sources and informed contemporary journalism, on Haiti.

Vanderbilt Names Mike Pelton as defensive line coach

Pelton, 38, will mentor ends on the Vanderbilt defensive front. He replaces former linebacker mentor Warren Belin, who left 10 days ago to join the Georgia staff.

The film documents the efforts of five artists who believe that God has inspired them to build structures.

From the House Organ: VUMC partners with YWCA to prevent domestic violence

One in three women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, according to the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

To help women conquer this abuse, the Vanderbilt Center for Women’s Health has partnered with the YWCA to promote its Crisis & Information Line for victims of domestic violence. The hotline is free and confidential, answered 24 hours a day by staff and volunteers trained in crisis intervention.
