Nobel Peace Prize winner to deliver Senior Day address

Wangari Maathai, the 2004 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize and founder of the environmentally conscious Green Belt Movement, will receive Vanderbilt University’s prestigious Nichols-Chancellor’s Medal in May 2011 when she will address graduating seniors and their families during Senior Day.

Vanderbilt University Hospital named to Leapfrog’s list of the nation’s top hospitals for 2010

Their Top Hospitals list is based on an annual hospital safety and quality survey, which this year took in some 1,200 of the nation’s approximately 5,800 registered hospitals. VUH is the only Tennessee hospital that made the list.

Vanderbilt is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank to help raise 8 million meals for hungry people in our community. Food items will be collected around campus Nov. 29-Dec. 10.

Far from their homelands, international students find creative ways to make the season bright
