Wang set to lead cardiology association

Thomas Wang, MD, Gottlieb C. Friesinger II Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, was recently named president-elect of the Association of Professors of Cardiology (APC) for 2018. He will subsequently serve as the president of the group in 2019.

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve in this capacity,” said Wang. “This is a challenging time in academic medicine and academic cardiology given the changes in the way that healthcare is delivered and financed and the ongoing constraints on research funding.

“I look forward to thinking about how this organization can assist in addressing these challenges.”

Founded in 1990, the APC promotes the professional development of its members and provides a regular forum for chiefs of cardiology to discuss the issues facing academic medical centers.
