Watch: A conversation with Sandra L. Barnes, assistant vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion

Meet Sandra L. Barnes, Vanderbilt University’s new assistant vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion. Barnes, a sociologist whose work examines resilience and community in urban settings, discusses her research on inequality, her responsibilities in her new role, and her hopes for Vanderbilt in the coming academic year.

Barnes reports directly to Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer George C. Hill and will work with Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos, vice chancellors and other stakeholders to advance equity, diversity and inclusion at Vanderbilt. She will continue to teach and conduct research as a faculty member in the Peabody College Department of Human and Organizational Development and the Divinity School.
