He will remain at VUMC until the end of June and begin at Sheppard Pratt on July 1.
Trivedi joined Vanderbilt in March 2010 as associate professor of Psychiatry and as the executive medical director and chief of staff at VPH.

“I want to wish Dr. Trivedi the best in his new role as the leader of Sheppard Pratt and express my appreciation for his contributions to the success of VPH. He and Dr. Heckers have worked well together, implementing new programs and services for the patients we serve while enhancing the Psychiatric Hospital’s performance,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System.

Trivedi has helped transform the Behavioral Health administrative team and has nurtured the careers of several faculty who are now in leadership positions at VUMC.

“We have built world-class clinical services and are well positioned for continued growth. Demand for our services is at an all-time high and our role in the community continues to broaden,” said Stephan Heckers, M.D., William P. and Henry B. Test Professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry.

“I am sad to see Harsh leave, but I understand and respect his decision. The position at Sheppard Pratt will allow him to continue his career path as one of the most promising physician administrators in the U.S. today.”

A transition plan and process to identify Trivedi’s successor as CEO of VPH is in place.

Sheppard Pratt Health System is the largest private provider of mental health and substance use services in the nation, with two free-standing psychiatric hospitals, 12 special education residential and day schools, and 38 outpatient locations across Maryland.
